Jekyll, obsidian, deployment idiosyncracies

– Meta, Technology

I use DeployHQ for automatic deployments—and building my Jekyll site for production.

It took me forever to figure out why the build command was failing on DeployHQ, even though it was succeeding on my local environment. It’s because of the strange file names in the assets I uploaded in my latest post on Dall-E, such as:

DALL·E 2022-08-30 18.02.55 - a carnivorous tulip.png

Specifically, it’s this symbol: ·

Apparently, this breaks the entire build process for Jekyll on some servers, without throwing a proper error code.

🤬😡😤😖😣😥
